Illuminize Chemical Peel

Illuminize Chemical Peel

The SkinMedica® Illuminize Chemical Peel® is the gentlest of the three chemical peels we offer. The peel is ideal for individuals who have never had a chemical peel before, individuals with only mild skin imperfections, and can be used on all skin types. The Illuminize Peel® provides a superficial peel and a mild exfoliation of the surface of the skin.

Generally, chemical peels are for individuals with lighter skin as stronger chemical peels target pigmentation – which can cause a poor reaction in someone with darker complexion. Due to its low level of salicylic acid and other active ingredients, the Illuminize Peel® is safe to use on light to dark complexions

Key Benefits of Illuminize Peel

  • Brighten the overall appearance of skin
  • Radiant looking skin after one peel
  • More uniform complexion
  • Perfect for all skin types and complexions
  • Won’t irritate sensitive skin
  • Zero downtime

Pre-Treatment

A facial specialist will first consult with you about the goals you wish to achieve with your chemical peel to ensure the Illuminize Peel® is the best chemical peel option for you. Also, it is recommended to avoid any procedures for at least 3 days prior to your chemical peel that could have increased the sensitivity of your skin. This includes other facials or at home exfoliation products.

During Treatment

The SkinMedica® Illuminize Peel® product is applied to your face and left to sit for a few minutes. It is unlikely that you will feel any burning sensation with such a mild peel, but this can vary on individual tolerance. If you feel any discomfort, please advise your facial specialist. A fan can be provided to provide a cooling sensation, or the peel can be removed prior to completion of treatment.

Post-Treatment

You will not experience any additional peeling following treatment and can immediately resume regular activities. Following an Illuminize Peel®, you’ll leave with healthier, more radiant skin. You may experience a light pinkish coloration of your face, but it will subside and can be covered by foundation if it bothers you.  In addition, as with any chemical peel, it is recommended to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher before going outside and to limit your time in the sun because new skin is highly susceptible to sunburn.Chemical Peels should not (and will not) be administered to pregnant or lactating women or those with an allergy to any of the product’s ingredients.
