Botox (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a popular anti-aging and non-surgical cosmetic treatment used for medical and anti-aging applications. It temporarily soothes the frown lines or glabellar lines (the lines between the eyebrows that can make a person look unhappy, angry, or tired). Oftentimes, however, it is used for crow’s feet, horizontal feet lines, smoker’s line around the lips, and marionette lines at the corner of the mouth.
Botox is FDA-approved and Botox injections work by injecting the botox cosmetic into the muscles, which blocks the nerve impulses to those tissues. A reduced muscle activity that causes frown lines and a smoother look result is eventually achieved; usually, the injection only takes around 15 to 25 minutes to set and improvements are seen within the day. The maximum effect can occur at approximately 10 to 14 days.
